Best bbq restaurant I've found in quite awhile. Brisket and sausage were great. Sauce was tasty.

If you're going down I10 and you need a quick but good MEAL. This is your jam. The BBQ was tasty and tender and all the sides we had were spot on. There was a good mix of folks and the place was spotless. No wonder the parking lot and most of the overflow parking were full.

Driving from Dallas to Florida, we decided to try something in Louisiana. Yelp did not disappoint. Everything people wrote about this place is spot on. The service was amazingly friendly and the food was everything good that people wrote about. It's definitely a stop I will be talking about for a long time!

I really enjoyed my meal here! The Mardi Gras potato is sooo big. I also got a pulled pork sandwich (forgot to take a photo but it was a lot less photogenic than my potato if you know what I mean, lol.) The sandwich is fairly dry without the barbecue sauce so definitely get a packet or two! I love the fried fish bites appetizer and the Remoulade sauce it comes with is perfect. Lastly, my best friend got the catfish Cou-Yon and it did not disappoint!!! I've gone both inside and in the drive thru before, great service. Everyone is very polite and makes you feel at home.

We were visiting the USS Kidd and came here for lunch. What a great place! Portions were large, food tasted good, and prices were reasonable. Ribs were delicious, but we all agreed the fried green beans were one of a kind. Glad we stopped by.

The service at cou-yons was incredible. It was very busy but things were moving fast and the staff was super nice getting out all the food. I enjoyed my wings but the best meal was the catfish cou-yon and the blackberry cobbler. It's worth it to go to the other side of the river from Baton Rouge to try cou-yons for some Cajun bbq!

Cou-yon's is apparently an institution in Port Allen, and having eaten there I can see why. There is a wide variety of items on the menu - something for everyone - but the BBQ is the focus. I have tried most of the smoked meats. All have been very nicely done. The smoked meatloaf is a treat. The sides are the usual things you expect from a BBQ restaurant. The fried seafood is OK, but the BBQ is what they are best at. Being an institution also brings the bad - it's small, crowded, and loud, although I have not had trouble finding a table. The service can be hit or miss. The queue forms at the register and meanders through the restaurant so when they are busy (always) you might have somebody standing over your table while you are eating. Everyone just deals with it so it works out OK, it's just a little weird sometimes. The parking lot is the same way just outside. The drive-thru line clogs up the parking lot and gets in the way of the actual parking spots. Don't let all this keep you away. The food is good enough to offset the nuttiness of the place, so give them a try. It's worth it.

Across the River from Baton Rouge lies this hole in wall diner offering po-boys and baked potatoes. The diner is decked out with tiger gear highlighting the tradition of success at the school. This is a counter serve restaurant, but they will deliver the food to you. I ordered the shrimp po-boy with hash brown casserole. The portion size was huge, the shrimp lightly friend, and the toppings perfectly complimented the crunchy French bread. The baked potato was also huge and mighty delicious! Definitely large enough for a meal.
